Prohibited Steps Order

A prohibited steps order is effectively a direction from the court forbidding a person to take a particular step in respect of a child. This can include, for example, where there is a threat that one parent may take a child away from the other parent.

A prohibited steps order can prevent:

  • the child being removed the parent’s care and control
  • the child being removed from the jurisdiction of England & Wales

The test is what is in the child’s best interests.
