Children Law
Shared Residence
The courts are now more willing to consider whether or not a shared residence order is appropriate and in the best interests of the child. This could mean, for example, that the separated parents share the care for the child.
Shared residence does not mean that the child’s care is split equally between the parents. Every case is different and much will depend on the individual circumstances, the work patterns of the parents, and the location of the homes and so on. There have even been cases where a shared residence order has been made to parents living in different countries.
